Marie-Claire offers a friendly bespoke service to her clients and caters for a range of budgets. Wether it be a headpiece designed specifically for a mother of the bride or an eye catching creation to wear to the races, Marie-Claire will design you a totally unique creation. Each individual piece is designed by Marie-Claire with your specifications in mind, hand blocked using traditional millinery techniques on wooden forms and hand finished to a high standard using quality – and sometimes unexpected – materials.
Marie-Claire also offers a wide range of ready-to-wear pieces from her studio and online shop, as well a number of selected stores across the UK.
Her latest collection 'if wishes were fishes....' is inspired by the shapes, colours and forms of the landscape of County Down and Strangford Lough.
Pieces from this collection are available to purchase online in her shop but also from selected stockists worldwide. To enquire about any pieces from this collection please send your query through the contact page.
Marie-Claire is a milliner, based in Strangford, County Down, Ireland. She studied millinery and design in Yorkshire and was based in the historic city of York for a number years before returning to Northern Ireland in 2010.
Setting up her studio on the shore of Strangford Lough, Marie-Claire takes inspiration from the landscape and colours of her stunning surroundings to make her beautiful handcrafted head pieces.
Her designs range from gravity defying sculptural creations to ethereal and whimsical headpieces. She enjoys juxtaposing traditional millinery styles with contemporary design. Specialising in bespoke headwear, all designs are completely hand made to your specifications. Choose from a wide range of fabric types, colours and feather options: each piece is truly unique.
She will give advice on colour matching, so if you have a particular outfit to co-ordinate she can advise on tones and colours of fabrics that would be suitable. She can also help select the right style of hat for your face and body shape.
Marie-Claire has a wide range of hats in stock available to hire. The charge for hire is £40, (a deposit for the remaining cost of the piece hired is required, this will be refunded once the piece is returned in good condition).
Marie-Claire loves working with brides to be to create unique bespoke pieces to perfectly compliment your style for that special day. She is also currently working on a new range of bridalwear that will be available to buy online soon.
Working with other local artists and craftspeople brings about a great energy of ideas and unexpected creations. Marie-Claire is currently working with Northern Irish print artist Lucy Turner to turn her vibrant colourful screen prints into wearable art by digital printing onto plush velvet for use in the limited edition of 6 hats.
